8th Pewsey Wharf 13 miles 22 locks

Return journey the reverse of the outward journey. Black Horse, Devizes Wharf, Horton, Willcott, Pewsey Wharf where my travelling companion got rid of her cold by giving it to me.
Before we left Pewsey I caught up with Brindley (D'fer's sister) and Savannah her new owner. Savannah was clued up on all of D'fer's siblings - including Amber from Great Bedwyn 9 years ago. Bindy also suffered with the fitting that D'fer had but seems to have got over it although Savannah keeps her in the boat at locks. Dayz and Jiffer (D'fer's parents) died last year. Demi died at 3 and Nellie at 5. D'fer ended up being the biggest chunkiest of all the litter. D'fer and Bindy welcomed each other but there did not seem to be any spark of recognition.

A car-a-van. It's a little mobile home that can
be driven into the water and used as a boat.

Took a day off as my cold really bad today.
Found an app for my tablet to weigh things, really cool till I tried to weigh myself. When I stepped on it it shattered.

23rd Tesco Reading 39 miles 56 locks 12 swing bridges 2 lift bridges

Sort of hurrying as we want to get back before the bad weather starts. If we get caught on the K & A by the River Thames going in to flood we could be here all winter.
Found an ash tree down so topped up with fuel for the colder weather.
Big provisions shop while we have the chance.
Our last provisioning stop was at Newbury where we found ourselves in the middle of the Diwali celebrations and were both given a little parcel of food.

Back on the Oxford canal, we can relax a bit now.
Next time I get a cold or earache I must remember that it is just another life form fighting for survival.
